About the Job
Industry leading pump manufacturer is hiring for a Test Lab Operator to run tests on skid mounted centrifugal pump packages. This is a direct hire opportunity that will work with and oversee a small team inside the manufacturing facility to run various tests to ensure pumps are fabricated and assembled to proper engineering specifications.
Responsibilities of the Test Lab Operator include, but are not limited to:
- Evaluate pump(s) to be tested in order to establish appropriate test parameters as required by governing organization and documents
- Identify and confirm availability of required test equipment and components
- Schedule and reserve required resources to facilitate test
- Oversee pump installation to ensure safety of personnel and correct configuration of pump and components in test loop
- Utilize appropriate test equipment to operate pump(s) under controlled conditions throughout predetermined range and collect performance data as requested
- Organize collected data and present in report format for delivery to customer
- Interface with customers in person and through internet meeting platforms for presentation and explanation of testing processes
- Catalog and maintain list of in-use equipment and components for inventory and calibration purposes
Qualifications of the Test Lab Operator include, but are not limited to:
- Familiar with API, HI, ASME, ANSI and other industry standards and organizations
- Thorough understanding of pneumatic and hydraulic principles; as well as electric controls, PLC's, and instrumentation and control loops
- Familiar with equipment and instrument calibration processes and its importance
- Basic knowledge of three phase electrical motors (low and medium voltage) and VFDs
- Previous experience with rotating machinery alignment and vibration monitoring & analysis preferred
- Ability to maintain safety awareness attitude at all times
- Effective communication and organizational skills
- Willingness to undertake additional training as deemed necessary by company in order to maintain technical understanding of new and/or improved tools, techniques, processes and safety
- Dedicated team player
Physical Demand: Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
Working Conditions: Mostly indoors in office and shop areas that is heated and air conditioned
Training/Certifications: Training in basic pumps and hydraulics desired. Vibration analysis certificate LV2 or higher preferred.
Shift Time/Overtime: Primarily day shift with potential for evening or night shift when test schedule requires. Overtime hours common during peak schedule loading times.
