Responsibilities
SUMMARY
Test Lab Intern will support engineering evaluation, design validation and process verification testing on products or components received from internal or external customers under the guidance and direction of the Lab Superisor. Supports prototyping activities through the use of 3D printers and machining equipment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Carry out tasks as assigned by Lab Supervisor
- Support the technicians and validation engineers in completing assigned tasks
- Learn about the different types of products STRATTEC manufactures and how those products are validated
- Read and interpret drawings, charts, schematics and STRATTEC, customer and industry specifications
- Assist with the operation of equipment, such as 3D printers, instrumentation, test equipment, electrical components, etc.
- Assist in the maintenance of test equipment to ensure good operation
- Support troubleshooting efforts for perceived or validated nonconforming product
- Learn how to properly operate lab equipment, including: Lloyd compression / tension tester, various servo systems, cycle testers, thermal chambers, salt spray, dust and water spray testers
- Learn how to correctly utilize various measurement tools, including: optical comparator, force & torque transducers, hardness tester, caliper, micrometer, etc.
- Work with outside vendors to secure quotes for outside testing services
- Support manual or automated testing activities in accordance with the received test request and test plan per STRATTEC, customer, and industry methods and specifications
- Assist with generating detailed and accurate test reports, using photos, videos, spreadsheets, outside test reports, etc.
- Report test project progress to lab supervisor and to the test project requestor as required
- Monitor 3D printers and test equipment, according to written or verbal instructions

- Computer literacy, uses Microsoft Office Suite products to prepare reports and updates
- Ability to handle and organize multiple test projects, data, paperwork and files
- Ability to work with hand tools and basic machines to alter or create parts; must have mechanical aptitude to work with tools in tearing down product assemblies
- Perform basic calculations to analyze designs and solve problems
- Self-sufficient / self-motivated and able to work effectively with minimal supervision
- Team player

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
T1/Entry Level-Learning
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); with six months to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
