Position Summary
The Test/Field Service Engineer works with our high precision gages that measure camshafts and crankshafts and are widely known as the world's most accurate CCMM (cylindrical coordinate measuring machine). These machines take measurements in the sub-micron level utilizing lasers and glass scales mounted on precision electro-mechanical assemblies.
This exciting position includes the opportunity to work closely with the company's senior most engineers on activities within our manufacturing headquarters on new technologies and engineered to order products. Additionally, the Test Engineer will have the opportunity to for domestic and international travel to some of the worlds most advanced manufacturing facilities. The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys precision engineering, solving problems, repairing electro-mechanical equipment and the satisfaction of helping customers. "Thinking on your feet" is a highly valued asset at Adcole.
In-house responsibilities include precision mechanical alignments; electronic troubleshooting using a variety of test and measurement equipment; machine programming for customer parts; performing customer "run-offs" to verify gage accuracies and repeatability; and testing new software, hardware, and customer specified tooling.
Our factory-trained Field Service Engineers represent the best of Adcole and are often the primary point of interaction with customers. Our customers count on our Adcole Engineers to accurately install, diagnose, repair, certify and calibrate our high precision gages in their facilities located around the world.
The role may include building sub-assemblies and complete gages as determined by the needs of the business and the successful candidate's capabilities.

Specific Job Knowledge, Skill and Ability
The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job.
- Ability to read electronic schematics.
- Ability to understand, diagnose and repair Electro-mechanical assemblies.
- Familiarity with oscilloscopes and multi meters and being able to use their information to problem solve.
- Ability to work effectively and independently with minimal supervision in the field.
- Ability to effectively interface across multiple departments and bring issues found in the field back to home office for escalation and resolution.
- Ability to learn and use new and novel (Adcole's) software to write programs to measure customers' parts and generate concise reports as well as report bugs for future solutions to customer's concerns.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a background using multiple vintages of Windows-based computer programs.
- Ability to troubleshoot potential problems down to the printed circuit board causing issues (without necessarily diagnosing the specific issue on the board itself).
- Ability to escalate situations and conditions that are critical to quality and on-time delivery.
Qualification Standards
- A.S. or equivalent in Electro-Mechanical Technology or relevant military or business experience in electro-mechanical repair. Bachelors in an engineering discipline strongly preferred.
- 3-7 years' experience in a field service role or technical support function
- Electro-mechanical experience is a must, preferably including assembly, troubleshooting and repair.
- Metrology experience a plus.
- Customer service background preferred
- Valid driver's license required.
- Ability to lift 50lbs. (less than 10% of the time)
- Willingness to travel 30-40% of the time (with opportunities for substantial overtime pay), occasionally international (less than 10%of the time)
