- Develops a relationship of trust and industry expertise with customer base.
- Secures orders from existing and potential customers by means of visiting the customer facility or contacting by phone, text message, email, or other.
- Initiates and follow-up with customers to resolve problems and answer questions.
- Prepares and presents proposals, quotes and recommend products based on customer needs and sales of appropriate products.
- Assists customers and arrange payments terms in accordance with established guidelines.
- Attends sales meetings, trade shows, events and educational activities to stay up-to-date on the latest developments, trends, and regulations in the market.
- Responsible for staying current on product labels, research and performance of Harrell’s products.
- Manages controllable expenses in the territory.
- Maintains contact with key faculty at the Universities in the territory.
- Assists accounting with keeping account receivables current.
- Maintains expert knowledge of agronomics in order to give educated recommendations to customers regarding products.
- Suggests marketing programs and pricing in territory.
- If applicable, develops and maintains relationships with distributors in the assigned market.
- Maintains valid licenses, certifications and/or permits required to perform responsibilities
- Ensures compliance with all Federal, State and Local ordinances affecting this position.
- Ensures compliance with all Company policies and programs.
- Requested reports/forecasts to supervisor.
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor’s degree in turf related field preferred or equivalent sales or industry experience.
- Master’s degree preferred.
WORK EXPERIENCE:
- Three to five years of sales experience.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
- Applicable dealers license (state specific)
- Must have a current and valid driver license.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to drive company vehicle and maintain a safe driver record.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to organize and prioritize.
- Ability to multi-task and change tasks quickly and efficiently.
- Ability to work independently.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Working knowledge of fertilizer formulation.
- Working knowledge of computer software including Microsoft Office products and industry related software such as Customix is required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- The use of a computer and phone – Must be able to see, type, write, finger, grasp, and sit; must be able to use a mobile phone
- Communicating with internal and external customers – must be able to talk, hear, see, and comprehend.
- Mobility of arms – Must be able to reach, and use arms to manipulate small objects.
- Mobility inside the office to access filing cabinets, office machines, and supplies – must be able to move about the office space, stand for extended period of time, reach, bend, and occasionally lift up to 30 pounds.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
