St. Edward's University, a nationally ranked, independent Catholic university and Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) invites applications for a full-time, 9 month, tenure-track position as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences, beginning August 2025. The successful candidate will have expertise in ecology, a passion for teaching and for mentoring undergraduates in research, and will demonstrate the potential to lead the Environmental Biology and Climate Change degree as program director. The Department of Biological Sciences offers B.A. and B.S. degrees in Biology, a B.S. in Environmental Biology and Climate Change, and a B.S. in Medical Laboratory Science, and is part of the School of Natural Sciences. The School of Natural Sciences hosts the Wild Basin Creative Research Center, a 227-acre preserve that may be used as a site for ecological research.

For consideration, candidates must possess a PhD in Ecology or a related field.
Essential Responsibilities Include:
- Teach a typical load equivalent to four 3-credit courses per semester (with an automatic one course reduction for research for new tenure-track faculty)
- Serve as program director for the Environmental Biology and Climate Change (EBCC) degree
- Teach a broad range of biology courses with a focus on ecology and environmental biology related topics that support the EBCC program; exact courses are dependent on the candidate's expertise
- Ability to develop elective courses in the candidate's area of expertise
- Advise students and engage in service to the department, school, and university
- Develop a successful research program involving undergraduates and compatible with resources available at a primarily undergraduate liberal arts institution
- Other duties as assigned

ABOUT THE SCHOOL OF NATURAL SCIENCES: The School of Natural Sciences is home to six academic departments, including Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Computer Science, Forensic Science, Kinesiology, and Mathematics. The School of Natural Sciences also houses the Wild Basin Creative Research Center (located at the 227-acre Wild Basin Wilderness Preserve), and the Institute for Interdisciplinary Science that fosters cross-sector partnerships, interdisciplinary collaborations, and training in informatics and emerging technologies.
