Financial Accounting Analyst

Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented FinancialAccounting Analyst to lead budgeting and forecasting activities for year-end close processes. This role requires a strong accounting foundation, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate across departments to ensure accurate financial planning and reporting.

Key Responsibilities

Budgeting

• Review historical financial data and trends to provide recommendations for budget adjustments.
• Develop, prepare, and manage annual budgets in collaboration with department heads and senior leadership.
• Consolidate departmental budgets into comprehensive organizational budgets.

Forecasting

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial forecasts to reflect actuals and anticipated results.
• Analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) and financial trends to identify variances and adjust forecasts accordingly.
• Partner with leadership to provide insight into future financial performance and recommend actions for improvement.
• Build and maintain forecasting models, incorporating relevant data and assumptions.

Variance Analysis

• Strong understanding of GL and Chart of Accounts and understanding of how to prepare journal entries to clear reconciling items.

• Perform detailed variance analysis between budgeted and actual financial results.
• Investigate and explain discrepancies, providing actionable recommendations to address variances.
• Present findings to management and provide insights for operational adjustments.

Financial Reporting

• Generate detailed budget-to-actual and forecast-to-actual reports for internal stakeholders.
• Ensure accurate and timely submission of all budgeting and forecasting deliverables.
• Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes with relevant reporting and analysis.

Process Improvement

• Continuously refine budgeting and forecasting processes to increase efficiency and accuracy.
• Collaborate with the accounting team to ensure integration of budget and forecast data with financial systems.
• Implement tools and templates to streamline reporting and analysis.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or CMA preferred).
• 5+ years of experience in accounting or financial planning and analysis roles.
• Proficiency in financial modeling and forecasting software, as well as advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting principles.
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.
• Ability to communicate complex financial information effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or Dynamics) is a plus.
