As a Part-Time Temporary Foreman - Welding at Fraser Shipyards, you'll play a crucial role in mentoring, managing, and training both employees and contractors. You'll ensure that all necessary information and materials are readily available for planned work while maintaining an adequate labor force to meet production schedules. Your responsibilities will include providing on-the-job training to new and junior welders, conducting performance evaluations, and identifying skill gaps to arrange for additional training or certification.
You'll collaborate closely with project managers and other supervisors to plan and execute welding projects, enforce company processes and product quality standards, and maintain shop floor discipline in conjunction with HR. Additionally, you'll oversee the cleanliness of your work area, inspect completed welds for quality assurance, and ensure compliance with industry standards, working directly with regulatory bodies to maintain necessary certifications. Knowledge and skills required for the position are:
- 3/8 stick M/1 V&OH
- 5/8 wire SA/5V
- P3/P9 2" pipe test qualification or passing prior to hire required. Additional certifications preferred.
- 4+ years' experience in ship repair/construction preferred.
