CLASS SUMMARY: Under general direction, incumbent(s) coaches sports activities to students, including creating game plans, observing practice drills, and explaining safety, rules, and history of the sport. Incumbent(s) schedules activities and tournaments, prepares area of use, and sets up appropriate staff needed to carry out practices and games.

2. | Explains and enforces safety rules and regulations. Lectures on history and purposes of sport. Explains method of keeping score. Explains and demonstrates use of apparatus and equipment. | Daily 10% | B2 |

3. | Utilizes health service protocols to ensure safety for students. Explains and demonstrates principles, techniques, and methods of regulating movement of body to achieve proficiency in activity. | Daily 10% | B2 |

4. | Schedules buses, staff, referees, custodial, and cafeteria that are needed to carry out practices and games. Ensures students are picked up by appropriate person(s). Prepares area of use (i.e. gym, field, etc.). | Daily 10% | A1 |

5. | Communicates expectations, status, schedules, and rules of the athletic program to the school administration, staff, parents, and students. Holds parent-athlete meetings. | Daily 5% | B2 |

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: To be eligible for this position, an applicant must meet the following required qualifications. In addition, verification of these required qualifications is necessary.
High School diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) prior to being hired.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: It is preferred that applicant possesses the following preferred qualifications; however, the following qualifications are not required to be eligible for this position.
Bachelors degree in Education; One year of teaching experience; Valid Arizona Department of Education Teacher Certificate.
