Job Title: Payroll Processor
Location: Germantown, Maryland (remote after training)
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Payroll Processor to join our team. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge in processing multistate payrolls, proficiency with ADP and Costpoint systems, and an eye for detail. This role will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing, compliance with state and federal regulations, and providing excellent service to employees.
Key Responsibilities:
Process multistate payroll for [insert number] employees, ensuring compliance with applicable federal, state, and local tax regulations.
Accurately maintain payroll records in ADP and Costpoint, ensuring data integrity and timely updates.
Manage payroll-related tasks including, but not limited to, calculating wages, processing timecards, handling deductions, and managing direct deposits.
Ensure proper withholding of taxes, insurance, and other deductions in compliance with legal requirements and company policies.
Reconcile payroll data, including adjustments, retroactive pay, and off-cycle payrolls.
Assist in preparing payroll reports for internal and external stakeholders.
Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll issues, corrections, and discrepancies in a timely and professional manner.
Collaborate with HR and accounting teams to ensure proper flow and maintenance of employee data, including leaves, terminations, and benefits adjustments.
Assist with payroll audits and ensure proper documentation is available for review.
Keep up to date with changes in payroll laws and regulations affecting multistate payroll processing.
Qualifications:
2+ years of payroll processing experience, with a focus on multistate payroll.
Proficiency in ADP payroll systems is required.
Experience with Costpoint payroll or accounting systems is preferred.
Strong knowledge of federal and state payroll laws, including multistate tax and wage requirements.
Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to identify discrepancies and solve payroll issues promptly.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with internal teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certification in Payroll (CPP/FPC) is a plus.
Experience in a government contracting environment is a bonus.
