Temp. to Hire- Accounts Payable Position- Long Island City, NY

Job Title: Accounts Payable Clerk
Location: Long Island City, NY 11101
Hourly Rate: $24.05 per hour
Hours: 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM (Half-hour lunch break)

We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Accounts Payable Clerk to join our team. As part of the accounting department, you will be responsible for supporting the accounts payable functions and ensuring accurate financial transactions. This position offers an excellent opportunity to grow in the accounting field and contribute to the smooth operation of our finance team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain vendor records (adding new vendors, updating existing ones).
• Process all invoices for payment, including coding, matching purchase orders (PO), and data entry.
• Track and process recurring expenses (insurance, auto, rents) for payment.
• Print and mail accounts payable checks.
• Enter all ‘Cash Out’ transactions (ACH, wires, manual checks).
• Match purchase orders to receiving reports and invoices for accuracy.
• Maintain accounts payable files and records.
• Respond to inquiries from vendors and employees regarding invoices, expenses, and check requests.
• Print and route accounts payable reports as needed.
• Provide backup support to accounts receivable (AR) when required.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

• One-year certificate from a college or technical school, one to two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Strong ability to calculate figures and amounts with precision.
• Proficiency in Windows applications and Microsoft Office.
• Acute attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally.
• Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
• Flexible and adaptable to shifting priorities in a dynamic work environment.
