Project Manager and Engineer Job Description -
The main goal of project manager/engineer is to create the value added service and support to the client and preventative maintenance projects and customers.
Location: Must be based on the East Coast
Pay: Hourly rate plus commission, which is usually 5% of gross profit of each managed project. Hourly rate will depend on experience.
The following list contains the detailed responsibilities of this position:
Design and Engineering of EF&I projects. The engineering involves the following:
- Identify customer needs and specifications. Aid in developing specifications to create an engineering package.
- Ongoing consulting and design to develop customer floor plans and ladder rack schemes.
- Creating detailed project manuals which include contact name and numbers, site logistics, part lists, detailed method of procedures floor plans, wiring diagrams, ladder rack drawings, and monitoring and control drawings.
- Detailed Method of Procedures outlining in detailed step by step method of installation
- Detailed floor plans outlining Equipment location
- Detailed cable ladder rack drawings outlining cable rack and support structure.
- Wiring diagrams illustrating cabling and grounding installation design.
- Alarm and Control wiring diagrams showing equipment integration.
Ongoing day to day project management and engineering of ongoing projects which includes:
- Creating RFQ’s to sub-contractor’s when needed to complete installation
- Contact customer and building contacts to establish communication and project start date
- Track equipment and make delivery adjustments
- Specify certificates of insurance
- Aid in setting up delivery of equipment, misc materials, and tools.
- Schedule personnel
- Tracking installation process via updates from installation personnel
- Updating customer on installation process and make necessary adjustments to fit their schedules.
- Aid installer’s in interpreting Method of Procedures, manufacture’s specifications, and engineered drawings.
- Aid installer’s in field project engineering-making design and installation changes to overcome site specific problems.
- Visit project before, during, and after installation to create engineering package, create efficient and profitable installation, and verify installation complete per specifications.
- Train operations personnel on DC Power Equipment operation.
- Supervise and complete as needed hot work when inexperience lead installer is completing project.
- Troubleshoot as needed equipment under initial start up
Installation Completion Paper work and adjustments for future.
- Evaluate as per built documents- identify any problems overlooked by lead installer
- Send complete as per documentation, drawings, and concerns for the future to customer
- Discuss changes for future with saleman, management, and installers
- Review project profitability and identify weaknesses.
- Create solutions to weaknesses.
Train new personnel and existing personnel
- Train new personnel on installation procedures, specifications, equipment start up/troubleshooting, and field project management.
- Train existing personnel on new equipment and advances in the industry.
The following pertains to experienced Project Managers/Engineers only
All of the above responsibilities plus the following:
- Specifying Equipment for EF&I Projects
- Work hand in hand with customer directly or with salesman to specify the correct dc power equipment size, manufacture, and type.
- Quote equipment, materials, labor, expenses, freight, sub contracting, and engineering.
- Review all salesman quotes and prove for EF&I and E&I projects.
- Review and approve all engineering packages
- Train new project managers/engineers
