About the Job
The Teen Coordinator and BBYO City Director will create fresh and engaging programs for teens throughout the Columbus community. Oversee JCamps Summer Counselor In Training (CIT) program. Serve as the City Director for BBYO and follow the International BBYO policies and KIO Regional event schedule, the BBYO City Director will be involved in facilitating all aspects of Columbus BBYO teen programs, while working closely with JCC members, BBYO advisors and Regional BBYO Director.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Community Wide Teen Programming
- Work to create programming for teens that is focused on Israel education, combating antisemitism, community service, college readiness and social connections.
- Develop, oversee and implement the JCamps Summer Counselor in Training (CIT) program and work during the summer as part of our JCamps leadership team.
BBYO City Director:
BBYO is the leading pluralistic, Jewish teen movement and has been providing exceptional leadership programs and identity enrichment experiences for over 100 years. We offer year-round activities in hundreds of local communities and inspiring world-wide travel experiences enabling teens to explore areas of leadership, service, civic engagement, Israel education and Jewish values. The Columbus City Director is a joint position, in partnership with the JCC of Greater Columbus. We are looking for someone who is passionate about working with teens, is creative, results-driven and able to deal effectively with youth and parents in sometimes difficult situations.
- Inspire and support teens by creating leadership development opportunities and serving as a Jewish role model/experiential educator.
- Recruit, supervise, train, and develop volunteer advisors for the BBG and AZA chapters in Columbus.
- Oversee all aspects of the local programs and work with the Columbus chapter boards, advisors, parents and other community stakeholders.
- Assist Columbus chapters in implementing BBYO movement wide initiatives.
- Partner with other Jewish agencies in the community and participate in their programming that is relative to the teen population.
- Coordinate city-wide events where all Columbus chapters work together to plan and implement a program
- Communicate with parents and families to keep them informed about local and regional events as well as BBYO summer domestic and travel opportunities.
- Participate in professional development and other programmatic pieces that will add meaning to the local BBYO program.
- Monitor and oversee local budget.
- Help build a pipeline of middle school students that are ready to join BBYO in 8th grade.
- Communicate with community stakeholders with quarterly updates about Columbus BBYO.
- Serve as a staff member at all KIO Regional conventions.
- Promote BBYO in and around the community.
- Work closely with the Regional Director.
- All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
1. Knowledge and Education - Minimum Required or Preferred: BA or BS required.
2. Experience - Minimum Required or Preferred: Teen and/or BBYO experience preferred; experience planning and facilitating Jewish youth programming preferred; experience leading teens preferred.
3. Special skills: The Teen Program Coordinator and BBYO City Director will need to show leadership, be able to resolve conflicts, excel in event planning, perform strategic thinking and have knowledge of Jewish religious practices and Jewish life. A valid drivers license is required.

Salary Range: $37,000-$42,000
