The Technician I maintains all computer and related equipment in such a condition of operating excellence that maximum uptime and use may be made of it at all times.
DUTIES:
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- As part of a team under the supervision of the Director and the Tech Center Manager, the Technician provides hands on hardware, software and telephone support to IT users at multiple locations in the Hopkinton schools;
- Provide user support and training in the use of existing and new technologies, including audio/visual presentations related equipment;
- Troubleshoot common computer, software, telecommunications and A/V problems independently; escalate problems to Level 2 techs or Tech Center Manager when appropriate;
- Image and deploy new or existing technology on an annual basis, field/triage/resolve/document technology calls and requests for all sites;
- Maintains accurate and timely IT records including inventory of hardware, software, supplies, warranties and RMA’s;
- Manage, review, and update tech support tickets via the internal ticketing system;
- Research, communicate, coordinate and implement new technologies independently or working with internal IT staff or outside contractors;
- Bring unusual conditions or situations to the attention of the Tech Center Manager and Director of Technology;
- Provide backup support related to network hardware, software and system administration;
- Other duties, as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
To be considered qualified for the position of Technician I, candidates must have/be:
- ACMT, A+, and Apple product certifications preferred;
- Associate’s Degree from an accredited institution, in Computer Science, or a related field is preferred;
- Working knowledge of MAC & PC operating systems, desktop applications, JAMF’s Casper Suite, Google & GSuite, and familiarity with the imaging process preferred;
- 1 - 2 years hands on computer support experience required;
- Abilities to work independently in a fast-paced environment, juggling many tasks and requests across a large user base; and to organize, prioritize, and complete a large volume of varying requests by a multitude of users;
- A desire to learn new technologies and a willingness to apply problem solving and troubleshooting methodologies;
- Ability to interact daily with users at varying technical competency levels;
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent or Director of Technology may find appropriate.
