Job DescriptionThe department of BioResources provides health surveillance, preventative disease programs and daily husbandry and care for all laboratory animals at AbbVie Bioresearch Center. The department has primary responsibility for assuring that the Animal Care Program meets the standards for continued accreditation by the Association for the Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care (AAALAC) and meets the regulations required for compliance with the AnimalWelfare Act (AWA).
Completely follow established procedures and protocols with supervision according to required schedules (including off-hours, weekends, and holidays)
Recognize, clearly communicate, and document procedural variances.
Maintain laboratory equipment, including sanitization, and stocking supplies when appropriate.
Independently perform basic in vivo techniques in multiple species. Learn and effectively implement new advanced in/ex vivo techniques.
Observe performance of and troubleshoot instrumentation.
Complete all assigned and required trainings prior to deadlines and act as a mentor to junior staff for basic techniques
Use experience and training to make decisions to execute responsibilities
Demonstrate technical proficiency in field. Demonstrate skill in multiple techniques, as required, to suit the changing needs of research or development sciences. Perform routine and complex tasks competently. Impact projects mostly through direct support of in/ex vivo research activities.
Documentation of tasks and observations, and adherence to designated task schedules and departmental Standard Operating Procedures
Understand and adhere to corporate standards and regulatory requirements regarding code of conduct, safety, appropriate handling of materials, controlled drug and radioactive compounds, GxP compliance, and animal care where applicable.
QualificationsHigh School Diploma or equivalent and 2 years experience or A.S. or equivalent degree and 1 year experience and entry-level certification in related field or techniques preferred (example: AALAS ALAT)
Physical dexterity, visual and auditory acuity, organizational and time management skills, and sensitivity to changes in environmental conditions encountered in task performance
Basic computer skills, including word processing, internet browser navigation, and communication such as email and messaging
Able to lift 50 pounds, perform repetitive procedures, and stand or walk for extended periods of time
Practical knowledge, including basic calculations, and problem-solving ability to carry out job function.

The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.

This job is eligible to participate in our short-term incentive programs.
