Technician-Engineer - Kinder Morgan

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Responsible for the utilization of engine and compressor analysis equipment, vibration equipment, emission analysis equipment, and borescopes in acquiring equipment data
• Must possess and continue to develop skill of analyzing data and developing specific recommendations and corrective actions
• Supports analysis and maintenance of plant systems including gas compression equipment, control systems, auxiliary support systems, and ancillary equipment
• Provides condition-based corrective action recommendations to resolve operational problems on gas compression equipment and works directly with location personnel to resolve ancillary plant equipment issues
• Provides technical assistance in the operations and maintenance of plant equipment and provides training on equipment operations and maintenance policies and procedures
• Assists in equipment failure analysis and in the development of standard practices and procedures
• Conducts portable emissions analysis testing for compliance and assists in scheduling and conducting trailer tests as required
• Conducts greenhouse gas and leak surveys using advanced detection and imaging equipment
• Supports the identification and prioritization of capital and O&M improvement projects
• Regular and predictable attendance

Education:

• Associates degree in a technical field preferred, or equivalent relevant experience

Experience and Knowledge:

• Minimum of 3 - years of experience with reciprocating and rotating machinery repair and / or machinery diagnostics
• Individual should possess a thorough understanding of the mechanical aspects of internal combustion engines and gas compression equipment and their support systems
• Experience with reciprocating engine condition monitoring systems such as Windrock or similar analysis equipment
• Thorough knowledge of condition-monitoring and condition-based-maintenance techniques
• Demonstrated ability to investigate and troubleshoot vibration problems, with an understanding of spectral analysis
• Demonstrated experience in using electronic databases as well as storage and archival of electronic data
• Strong understanding of Excel, Word, and PowerPoint computer programs along with proprietary analyzer software
• Minimum of 3 years of experience with portable-unit exhaust emissions analysis
• Excellent planning and organizational skills. Must be able to prioritize assignments according to business needs
• Excellent written and oral communication skills – proven ability to produce clear, concise written reports, and discuss, review, and present technical information
• Excellent team working skills – demonstrated ability to work with operations groups, support groups, and engineering support staff
• Must be able to work with minimal supervision

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations:

• Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers

• Demonstrated customer focus in dealing with engineering, field operations, and other internal and external groups
• Ability to effectively organize, plan, prioritize, document, and complete work with minimal supervision
• Must be comfortable working with remote supervision
• Must be able to work with a team, take direction from supervisor(s), prioritize and adhere to established work schedules, focus attention on details, and follow work rules
• Must be able to speak and understand English
• Must be able to perform all essential functions of the job

Physical Demands:

• Must be able to withstand extreme conditions; will work outdoors in all seasons
• Must be able to climb to and work from elevated platforms, ladders and walkways
• Must be able to lift a minimum of 30 pounds in awkward positions, and 50 pounds from floor to waist
• Must be able to see, hear, walk, and speak clearly

Working Conditions:

• Required to carry a company-provided cell phone and be available to respond during working hours, and non-working hours as needed
• Travel is required and anticipated up to 40-50% on average, and may occasionally include out-of-town nights and weekend travel
• The successful candidate will be required to clear a drug screen and a complete background check after an offer has been extended and prior to being employed

Compensation:

Pay range: $29.90 - $53.02 per hour. Job level and pay commensurate with experience and skill set.
