Genesis10 is seeking a Technical Writer for our client in the utilities industry. This long-term contract position is located in Dallas, TX 75202. Hybrid schedule of 3 days onsite / 2 days remote

This position will primarily focus on creating, formatting, and updating documentation and training to maximize user adoption of technology systems and processes. With direction from Technology & Customer Project Management Office (PMO) leadership, the Technical Writer will support the implementation of Client’s OCM strategy and methodology for program, project, and other initiatives involving Client stakeholders.

Description:
This position will primarily focus on creating, formatting, and updating documentation and training to maximize user adoption of technology systems and processes. With direction from Technology & Customer Project Management Office (PMO) leadership, the Technical Writer will support the implementation of Client’s OCM strategy and methodology for program, project, and other initiatives involving Client stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
- Engage subject matter experts to gather information and understand technical concepts
- Collaborate with key stakeholders and team members to drive the process of accurately documenting processes, procedures, and communications
- Analyze content across web-based collaborative platforms (e.g., SharePoint, Confluence) to determine relevance and accuracy
- Conduct reviews and revisions of existing documentation to ensure accuracy and relevance
- Write and edit technical documentation, user guides, job aids, and other support materials for both technical and non-technical audiences
- Develop engaging instructional materials, such as training modules and e-learning courses
Format documentation and training into standardized templates and adhere to style guide
Ensure all documentation and instructional materials comply with company best practices
Conduct QA (Quality Assurance) review of all materials (Proofread, edit for grammar, spelling, and correct style usage - Manage updates and revisions to materials as needed
- Provide administrative support for Technology's SharePoint and Confluence sites
- Comply with regulations, company policies, procedures, work rules, and management expectations
- Adhere to guidelines regarding sensitive customer information and proprietary company information
- Perform all essential functions and aspects of the job description including other duties as may be assigned
- Adhere to hybrid work schedule, reporting to the office for a minimum of three days each week
Requirements:
- High school diploma, GED or equivalent
- Minimum 2 years work experience in communications, training, instructional design, or related field
- Ability to follow directions and receive constructive feedback
- Advanced verbal and written communication skills
Excellent grammar and attention to detail - Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word and PowerPoint/Canva
- Experience documenting process flows and standard operating procedures
- Digitally savvy, self-starter, dependable, and highly motivated with the ability to work independently or collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to shift priorities and adjust focus as needed
- Excellent planning, organizational, time management, multi-tasking and prioritizing skills
- Experience coordinating and facilitating in-person & virtual meetings/trainings
- Bachelor's Degree (BA, BBA, or BS), or higher
- Proficiency with instructional design methodology (i.e., ADDIE)
- Proficiency with industry-standard tools and software for documentation and content development (i.e., Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Illustrator)
- Comprehension of organizational change management best practices and concepts
Microsoft SharePoint administrative experience - Experience with e-learning authoring tools (e.g., Articulate Storyline, Camtasia)
- Experience providing training through digital adoption platforms (e.g., Whatfix)
- Familiarity with Atlassian collaboration software (i.e., Confluence, Jira Service Management)
- Familiarity with project methodologies (i.e., agile, Kanban)
- Analytical mindset and ability to process information using data and technology to develop innovative solutions
- Knowledge of technology and electric utility-based concepts including advanced metering, customer information systems, security and networks
