Title: Technical Writer – Cyber Resiliency & Communication Planning
Location: Charlotte, NC (3-days onsite, 2-days remote Hybrid Schedule)
Note: This is a W2 contract position, and is NOT open to C2C or 3rd party candidates
We are looking for a Technical Writer with expertise in cyber resiliency and communication planning. In this role, the Technical Writer will be responsible for creating and maintaining documentation that supports cybersecurity strategy, incident response procedures, and communication plans. This includes working closely with cybersecurity, IT, and risk management teams to develop materials that are both technically accurate and accessible to a broad audience.
Position Responsibilities:
- Develop, write, and edit documentation for cyber resiliency initiatives, including incident response plans, continuity procedures, and communication workflows
- Create clear communication guides and templates for internal and external stakeholders to be used in the event of a cyber incident
- Collaborate with cybersecurity, risk, and IT teams to translate technical processes and protocols into easily understood documentation
- Organize and maintain secure documentation repositories, ensuring that all materials are up-to-date, version-controlled, and easily accessible
- Review and improve existing documentation for clarity, accuracy, and alignment with cyber resiliency best practices
- Support training materials and user guides related to incident response and cyber awareness
Position Qualifications:
- 3+ years of technical writing experience with a focus on cybersecurity, risk management, or a related domain, including a strong portfolio showcasing experience with cyber resiliency documentation, incident response plans, or communication strategies
- Familiarity with cybersecurity frameworks, such as NIST or ISO 27001, incident response best practices, Process/Structure/Repeatable Design, and framework and control environments within cybersecurity
- Proficiency in documentation tools such as Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Word, Confluence, JIRA, and other content management systems
- Excellent professional written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to clearly convey complex, technical information
- Strong critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Collaborative and professional work ethic, with strong time management and organizational skills, and the ability to self-manage and motivate
- Experience working in regulated industries (e.g., finance, healthcare, etc.) preferred
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in English, Technical Writing, Communications, Cybersecurity, or other related field
