Job Summary:Responsible for the technical training of custodial tasks, carpet cleaning and floor care processes and procedures to Chimes District of Columbia employees at various contract sites. Custodial Trainer will perform needs assessments, assist in developing training materials, and perform new hire, on-going, refresher and remedial training for custodial employees. Trainers must have excellent communication and presentation skills, strong interpersonal skills, and compassion and respect for persons with disabilities.Essential Functions:

- Deliver training for all custodial services personnel at their work site, on all shifts to ensure thorough knowledge of proper cleaning industry standards, methods and best practices for the cleaning of restrooms, offices, floor surfaces and other areas as specified in the contract's Performance Work Statement and Quality Surveillance Assurance Plan.
- Provide training on the technical aspects of General Routine Cleaning, Periodic Cleaning and Special Projects based on contract specific tasks, frequencies, and schedules.
- Conduct one on one and group training sessions with practical demonstrations, lectures, workshops and discussions in accordance with Source America Best Cleaning Practices, Cleaning Management Institute (CMI) and Cleaning Industry Management Standard (CIMS) of the International Sanitary Supply Association (ISSA)
- Conduct training assessments, develop lesson plans, implement standards, and evaluate training for all levels of custodial services personnel at their work sites
- Provide technical training for custodial services managers, leads and/or supervisors, custodians, utility workers, and floor technicians to ensure compliance with Chimes DC policies, and local, state and federal laws and regulations.
- Provide remedial, corrective action or improvement training as required
- Ensure custodial services personnel are trained in the proper handling and use of the cleaning products and chemicals in their workplace and understand the product labels and SDS
- Measure the effectiveness of custodial training programs through evaluation techniques
- Ensure consistency of custodial training from site to site and in accordance with Chimes District of Columbia's CIMS-GB and Green Seal Certifications
- Schedule training classes and maintain training class attendance records.
- Generate monthly and weekly reports tracking custodial training classes performed and scheduled and opportunities to improve the training program and/or employee performance
- Assist in generating monthly training calendars
- Assist in developing and conducting training programs for custodial employees in mandated courses, as well as in other topics that are identified as a training need
- Assist in preparing course manuals and materials to include visual and hearing impaired
- Assist in formulating teaching outlines and determining instructional methods, utilizing training, group instruction, lectures, demonstrations, meetings, and workshops
- Assist in determining training objectives and selecting and developing teaching aids, such as training handbooks, demonstration models, multimedia visual aids, handouts, tests, computer tutorials, and reference works
- Coordinate external and internal seminar registrations
- Maintain awareness of Chimes District of Columbia programs and services, and employee needs, skills and abilities to improve job performance
- Maintain trainer certification to conduct training in various areas, such as CPR/First Aid, or any other areas as required
- Maintain competency in current and emerging custodial industry trends, best practices, new technologies, products, and training materials
- Comply with Customer's rules for the building, security guidelines, Chimes District of Columbia Rules for the workplace and all policies and procedures
- Work cooperatively with others including staff, supervisors, administrators, co-workers, site employees, agencies, community professionals, customers, vendors, facility visitors and the public
- Reinforce Chimes District of Columbia Quality Control and Safety Programs through incorporation of Quality and Safety in custodial training topics
- Communicate effectively, orally and in writing, with all levels of staff within the organization
- Use technology for the completion of specified job duties
- Work a flexible schedule; Attend work regularly according to assigned work schedule and in accordance with Agency policy
- Attend and participate in-service training, staff meetings, and other activities to facilitate professional development
- Represent Chimes District of Columbia on various training committees and attend meetings as needed
- Follow instructions
- Communicate and collaborate with DC Training Manager, team members, trainers, and site management to ensure all needs are met
- Complete required in-service training, including, but not limited to, OSHA Standards, Fire Safety, and other safety precautions as directed by Human Resources
Secondary Functions:
- Assist with the personnel component in some aspects of the employment process including New Employee Orientation
- Assist in the planning and implementation of staff development programs
- Assume other duties, responsibilities and special projects as required

Other requirements:
- Valid driver's license from state of residence and ability to drive
- Obtain & maintain site governmental clearances
- License must have been valid for at least 3 years
- If driving a 15-passenger van, must be at least 25 years old
- Acceptable driving record as determined by Agency's insurance carrier and by Chimes DC policies and procedures
Essential Personnel: This position is designated as essential. This means that when the facility is faced with an emergency, employees in this position may be required to remain at their work location or to report to work to protect, recover, and continue operations at the facility Education:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in education or related field preferred
- Specialized certificate/coursework in commercial cleaning or building maintenance a plus
- Certified Professional in Talent Development (CPTD) a plus
- Knowledge about regulations for SDS, Fire and Safety, Hazard Communications and Bloodborne Pathogens with an emphasis on product and chemical knowledge
- Knowledge of current custodial industry standards and green cleaning requirements
- Knowledge of safe use of chemicals
- Knowledge and understanding of CIMS-GB standards or other quality standards
- Knowledge of best practices in cleaning floor surfaces and carpet
- Knowledge of best practices in office and restroom cleaning
- Knowledge of proper lifting techniques
- Valid CPR/FA certification preferred
Experience:
- Two years of experience working with individuals with disabilities preferred
- Two years of experience in education, training, or human resource development preferred
- Two years of experience in the custodial field as a trainer or supervisor
- Experience designing and implementing curricula preferred
- Working knowledge of MS Office including Excel and PowerPoint proficiency
- Excellent team building, organization and leadership skills
- Demonstrated competence in all phases of training
- Must have a car and an acceptable driving record as determined by criteria established by the agency's insurance carrier and by Agency policy
- Bi-lingual preferred
- OSHA Certification a plus
- CMI Custodial Technician Trainer a plus
