Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated IT Desktop Support Specialist to join our team in Florence, SC. The ideal candidate will provide hands-on technical support for desktop hardware and software, ensuring end-user systems are running efficiently. This role involves troubleshooting, configuring, installing, and maintaining desktop systems in a fast-paced, multi-platform environment. The position also requires 24/7 availability to support business needs as they arise.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ticket Management & Support: Monitor the dispatch system, handle incoming support tickets, and provide troubleshooting and technical support for desktop users.
- Configuration & Installation: Configure, install, and maintain desktop hardware and software to ensure optimal performance.
- Backup & Licensing: Ensure proper data backup from user workstations and verify compliance with IS purchasing policies for licensed tools and equipment.
- System Configuration & Security: Ensure systems are configured properly and meet required security settings.
- Application Support: Test, troubleshoot, maintain, modify, validate, and document application packages.
- Documentation & Knowledge Sharing: Document system configurations, standards, and troubleshooting procedures to improve team efficiency and resolution times.
- Collaboration: Work closely with other departments to resolve complex technical issues and improve system functionality.
- Administrative Tasks: Manage inventory, order replacement parts, and assist with reporting as needed.
- Stay Updated on Technology: Continuously improve knowledge of new technologies, tools, and advancements related to workstation support.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- End-User Support: Ability to provide expert-level consultation and support for desktop-based systems and LAN software.
- Training & Guidance: Experience in providing on-the-spot training to end-users on desktop systems and software.
- Imaging & Configuration: Strong understanding of operating system imaging concepts and system configuration procedures.
- Hardware & Software Recommendations: Ability to make informed recommendations regarding hardware and software selection to meet business needs.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot technical issues efficiently and provide timely solutions.
- Preferred Experience: Experience in supporting and maintaining an overall infrastructure, including networked systems and peripherals.
Preferred Software and Tools:
- Familiarity with computer and workstation hardware and software.
- Knowledge of common operating systems (Windows, macOS, Linux) and IT support tools.
Required Certifications:
- A+ Certification (preferred).
