About the Job
Heartland is looking for a Technical Project Manager to join our team. We're an industry-leading mobile device solutions integrator --- we provide our clients with a portfolio of award-winning products and services, and decades of experience simplifying and optimizing mobile workforces. In this role, you will plan, execute, and finalize projects according to deadlines and within budget. This includes acquiring resources and coordinating the efforts of project technical leaders, team members and third-party contractors, and clients' internal teams. In addition, you will manage the projects, track materials, labor, resources, and financial results, and report on the status of the projects in detail if needed and manage project coordinator(s).
Our projects require service, technical support, and technology deployment. This role can be a technical subject matter expert in some areas but will require hands-on experience and specialist knowledge of executing Heartland infrastructure projects. Manage materials and labor logistics to the project schedule. This includes contracting and delivery of labor & materials resources and may consist of negotiating with contractors to secure preferable prices and scheduled deliveries, managing change, tracking work on the construction site, cost control monitoring, and document control and records management.
What You'll Do
- Assist with project development and execution from initiation to closure and within budget.
- Assist in completing the project charter outlining: scope, goals, deliverables, required resources, budget, and timing.
- Assist with proposal efforts, including completing project scoping and LOE (Level of Effort) assessments.
- Manage & Identify resources needed and assign individual responsibilities.
- Create and execute project work plans and revise them appropriately to meet changing needs and requirements.
- Communicate expectations to team members. Lead, coach, and motivate project team members daily.
- Manage overall master schedule of projects.
- Effectively facilitate regular team and client meetings.
- Provide a project schedule to identify when each task will be performed.
- Manages day-to-day interactions, and project requirements to achieve milestones and project due dates.
- Track and report on project milestones and provide status reports.
- Communicate effectively with clients to identify needs and evaluate alternative business solutions.
- Resolve any issues and solve problems throughout the project life cycle.
- Ensuring contractual work is performed per customer standards.
- Comply with and enforce standard policies and procedures.
- Provide regular reports to senior management as needed.
Additional Job Requirements
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring that their expectations are understood and met, and maintain strong connections to support business development efforts.
- Develop and maintain relationships with external vendors and partners to leverage their expertise and resources.
- Track and manage project-related time (billable and non-billable) via ConnectWise.
- Professional interactions with internal and external customers, manufacturers, resource partners, etc.
- Installation standards & documentation
- Troubleshooting tips & Customer/Internal FAQs
- Provide coordination and quality assurance oversight for new installations.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and standards.
- Be an active and supporting member of the Heartland team serving our customers, supporting business growth, standards, and process improvements.
- Up to 20% travel to client sites or vendor/partner locations.
- Other duties as assigned by the operations leader.
Skills and Qualifications
- Experience working as a project management specialist and project coordinator (three years minimum), including:
- Creating and managing projects to successful completion
- Use a knowledge base to analyze and resolve project delays, constraints, changes, etc.
- Project management experience with construction projects, network installations, multi-device deployments, and onboarding
- Strong understanding of business systems and project management systems.
- Experience managing large-scale network projects, including design, deployment, and ongoing maintenance.
- Cost management - keeping track of team, materials, and costs
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills with demonstratable proficiency in technical writing
- Ability to analyze and evaluate situations critically to help prevent issues before they happen.
- Training and Certifications: PMP (Desired), CAPM, PMI-ACP
- Strong skills needed with office tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and SharePoint
