Job Description:
The Water Services Group (WSG) has an immediate need for a Technical Delivery Manager in our Southeast Region. The Technical Delivery Manager (TDM) is a senior leader within the Technical Services Unit (TSU) dedicated to the delivery of technically superior products and services, staff development and profit delivery.
Our Technical Delivery Manager opportunity can be located in any of CDM Smith’s offices in: FL, GA, LA, NC, SC, TN.
As a Technical Delivery Manager, you would contribute to CDM Smith’s mission by:
- Delivering and committing staff for specific assignments, in coordination with the Regional Team Leaders (RTLs), North America Unit (NAU)-Transportation and Geographic Units, Federal Services Unit (FSU), and International.
- Delivering chargeable salaries, controlling non-chargeable salaries, operating income, indirect expenses and delivering targeted actual profit margin of the work performed by the group.
- Coordinating with other Technical Delivery Managers (TDMs) and RTLs within the Water Services Group and other Services Groups, as appropriate, to share work and staff across geographic boundaries to meet goals.
- Furthering and overseeing technical excellence, as well as compliance with Quality Management and Health and Safety procedures.
- Developing and growing CDM Smith’s future leaders. Engaging in the technical development program and assigning technical mentors for each employee eligible for the Structured Mentoring Program, in coordination with the Regional Team Leader, monitoring pairing success. Managing the review process.
- Actively participating in appropriate Technical Knowledge Management (TKM), Communities of Practice, and ensuring that TDM group RTLs and staff actively participate.
- Assigning Project Manager in-Training coaches in coordination with the Client Services group and RTLs.
- Working closely with Delivery Leaders/Delivery Directors, Practice and Discipline Leaders, and Sales Leaders on hiring, pursuits, and goals setting to gain appropriate support for various market strategies.
- Implementing the committees and societies plan in alignment with the strategic goals of the Group and CDM Smith through the Regional Team Leaders.
- Providing input to the Technical Services Unit’s annual business and profit plan.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental or Chemical Engineering or related discipline. Professional engineering (PE) license.
- 15 years of related experience.
- Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proven leadership history – for example through project management, task management and mentoring
