Job Description

Role Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled individual to join our team as a Data Engineer focused on logical data modeling, metadata management, and data governance. This role will be responsible for translating business requirements into technical specifications, managing logical data models, and collaborating closely with the ingestion and curation teams to ensure high-quality, structured data. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of data modeling, complex metadata management, and data curation processes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with business stakeholders to define data requirements, priorities, and metrics, ensuring alignment with business needs and goals.
• Develop technical specifications, such as aggregation levels and granularity, based on metrics provided by the business teams.
• Design and implement logical data models and orchestration requirements to support enterprise data analytics.
• Manage and maintain the logical data model for the Enterprise Analytics team, working closely with ingestion and curation leads.
• Oversee and enforce data cataloging processes, ensuring accurate data catalog entries and adherence to cataloging standards.
• Manage access controls for data products, ensuring appropriate permissions and security.
• Coordinate and manage change requests related to the structure, definitions, and security of data objects.
• Communicate with Business Data System Owners and Business Data Stewards on updates to metrics and definitions.
• Act as the primary escalation point for Data Quality Analysts when defined processes fail to resolve data quality issues.

About You:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Economics, or a related field (MBA is a plus).
• 3+ years of experience in data engineering, data analysis, or a similar field.
• Hands-on experience with:
  • SQL for querying and managing data.
  • Python or other programming languages.
  • Databricks or other cloud-based data management platforms.
  • Technical and business data cataloging practices.
  • Designing and managing logical data models.
  • ETL/ELT tools, such as Apache Airflow.
  • Developing and maintaining data dictionaries.
• Proven experience in data management, requirements gathering, and metadata management.

Skills and Technologies:

• Proficiency in Databricks, SparkSQL, Scala, Python, or Java.
• Strong understanding of data governance, metadata management, and data curation practices.
• Experience with data access control, security, and change management processes.
