ERM is seeking a senior expert in product compliance and sustainability to join our growing Sustainable Products and Supply Chain team in Malvern, PA; Boston, MA; Raleigh, NC; Milwaukee, WI or elsewhere in the United States. The successful candidate will have significant consulting experience working on a variety of technically challenging projects focused on applying advanced methods in hazard, exposure and risk assessment to evaluate and effectively manage risks from chemical substances and identify greener alternatives. As a senior leader, you will be fully accountable for successfully selling and consulting on a range of product stewardship, product sustainability, and related technical projects to build a sustainable book of business, while networking with ERM’s global technical teams to share best practices.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- As a senior “seller/doer,” contribute to ERM’s Sustainable Products services. Identify and develop new opportunities, prepare effective technical proposals, and take active leadership role in developing new business with new and existing clients.
- Serve as a key member of the core technical team to drive profitable growth in Product Stewardship and Product Sustainability.
- Maintain high level of technical expertise and external visibility, for example through publishing and technical presentations.
- Provide clients with expert services related to product risk, safety, compliance, green chemistry and sustainability.
- Implement strategic business/action plans, i.e., supporting the recruitment of key talent, delivering profitable results to expand ERM's growth across North America.
- Work with clients and ERM’s technical teams to develop strategic product compliance and product sustainability programs for a variety of industrial clients with complex technical/regulatory/sustainability challenges.
- Lead, inspire, and mentor junior staff for overall success of technical team.
- Develop a working understanding of ERM’s other consulting service areas and actively support cross-selling these services to existing clients.
- Support the general growth and development of ERM’s international Product Stewardship services. Coordinate with ERM offices in the US, Asia-Pacific, Europe, and Latin America regions.
REQUIREMENTS:
- BSc/MSc/PhD in biology, environmental science, toxicology, chemistry, or related degree.
- Strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to clearly define the scope of a problem, and create and execute a path to solution.
- Effective written/verbal communication and organization/analytical skills, including experience writing detailed technical data and reports.
- Minimum of 8+ years of related experience; 10+ years of relevant consulting experience desired.
- Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments, meeting strict deadlines, and traveling to client facilities as needed.
- Proficiency with multiple North American regulatory frameworks for example: FIFRA, TSCA, PMRA, CEPA, FFDCA, OSHA HCS, HPR/WHMIS as well as familiarity with similar global chemical and product regulations.
DESIRABLE:
- Prior consulting experience, with strong sales performance demonstrated.
- Proficiency with scientific databases and tools, for example: Chemical Watch, various EPA databases, SDS authoring systems, ECHA databases and tools, and OECD methods and toolbox.
- Recognized technical expertise with an established reputation in industry bodies and/or professional societies (e.g., Product Stewardship Society, SOT, SETAC, HCPA, ACS, HCPA, etc.).
- Experience in applying toxicology and risk assessment principles and tools.
- Toxicology or Products Stewardship certification, for example: DABT, CPPS.
