Over the next 20 years, $80 trillion in private businesses will be sold to new owners or transferred to the next generation. Most of these businesses will have less than 100 employees and be valued under $30MM (a.k.a., the “lower market”). Meanwhile, more high-net-worth individuals are shrewdly looking to diversify their investment portfolios, and there’s renewed interest in business acquisitions. However, the business buy/sell advisory resources available to serve this transition are antiquated, slow, expensive, and lack sophistication.
We are seeking a co-founder keen to build a company with us that will disrupt the lower-market business buy/sell model. The ideal co-founder will work with the Hunsicker team to further develop, launch, and execute this vetted concept, which will initially focus on industries such as manufacturing and home services.
The right co-founder will be hyper-focused on taking this proposed platform from idea to launch and from launch to scale, simplifying the transaction process and providing innovative tools such as automated business valuations, secure communication, and data-driven insights to buyers and sellers alike.
Upon initial screening, promising candidates will be asked to sign an NDA and be provided further information on the concept for their review ahead of our first conversation.
What You Bring
- A winning capability in product design, software development, and engineering, particularly within platforms focusing on connecting buyers and sellers through secure, efficient, and technology-driven solutions.
- Highly knowledgeable in the different business valuation approaches for non-tech/software sectors and industries.
- Ideally have been part of a business acquisition or sale and have an understanding of the transaction process, players involved, challenges, and pain points.
- Strong track record of building and scaling a business or product, including overcoming challenges, a strong work ethic, and a desire to build a high-growth company.
- An entrepreneurial mindset with the determination to scale a company from zero to one and beyond, particularly in the context of a technology-driven marketplace.

What can you expect from this process?
This will not be a traditional interview process. Successful candidates who have the skills, background, capability, and passions should expect to meet/talk with our team members regularly to formulate and align on a strategy, product development roadmap, and go-to-market plan that aims to achieve product-market fit.
This process is deliberate. Co-designing the solution allows us to assess compatibility effectively. Building a company is incredibly challenging, and we aspire to build a very high-caliber company. That is only achievable through alignment and mutual trust, which can’t be accomplished through a few one-hour interviews.
This isn’t just a job; ideally, this opportunity will coincide with a calling. It’s also a long-term partnership and mutual commitment. We don’t believe this can or should be rushed. Expect a process that could take upwards of three months.
Once we mutually agree to move forward, this role will be paid a market-rate competitive salary, including health benefits and 401K.
