About the Job
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
- 10 years of experience at public accounting firms and publicly-traded multinational companies.
- Experience working in technical accounting, accounting policies, accounting advisory, or a similar role.
- Experience with revenue recognition and related guidelines, such as ASC 606.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience working in a technical accounting or similar role at the SEC or FASB.
- Experience with lease accounting, Enterprise software, and SaaS.
- Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) accounting principles (revenue recognition).
- Ability to work with executive management and influence decision making.
- Excellent project management and communication skills.

Responsibilities
- Perform technical research on complex accounting issues, provide consultation to business partners under US GAAP, and manage processes around internal documentation of accounting assessments.
- Monitor standard-setting and agendas from Financial Accounting Standards Board, SEC, and others to inform company’s influencing efforts through comment letters, industry group participation, and other forums.
- Assist in facilitating proper implementation of new accounting standards, disseminate information on current accounting topics/recent developments affecting Alphabet. Lead development of Alphabet’s global accounting policies and positions and assist in ongoing policy documentation maintenance.
- Assist in drafting impact disclosures of recently issued accounting standards on Alphabet’s financial statements and lead efforts to provide training for Alphabet’s finance organization on accounting changes.
- Use program/project management knowledge to run projects with effective communication to guide and influence others, including colleagues in areas outside of finance.
