Position Details: It is enrollment time for our 3 year old program and our classrooms are filling up quickly. We are in search of experienced Teachers who have taught the 3 year old age group. Compensation is considered on all career levels and will depend on the applicants education, certification(s) and work experience.
The Salvation Army, Syracuse Area Services Day Care Unit supports families by providing on-site Day Care and Educational Services.

Teacher's are responsible for the development, implementation, facilitation, monitoring and evaluation of our educational programs within all age groups and classrooms. This is a fantastic opportunity to Teach children at an early age and assist them with their development and readiness for Pre-K.

Overview of job responsibilities:
- Plan and implement with room staff team a curriculum that will address both individual children’s and group needs appropriately in conjunction with the SCSD curriculum.
- Flexibility and ability to work in all classroom environments with children 6 weeks up to 5 years of age as needed to meet the required classroom ratio.
- Monitor and maintain the classroom environment including cleanliness, minor repairs, health and safety issues, inventory and request supplies and equipment.
Qualifications require the following for the role of Teacher:
- Clearance through NYS Central Registry (SCR) is required.
- High School Diploma or equivalent and minimum three years related experience required, with one year experience working with children ages 6 weeks to 3 years.
- Child Development Associates (CDA) Credential required within the first year of employment.
- Associates’ Degree preferred.
- Prior experience working with children or in a day care and classroom setting.
- Must meet NYS/Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) regulations requirements.
- Must meet health standards for OCFS licensing, be able to lift up to 40 pounds and be able to participate in all developmentally appropriate activities.
Our Day Care Environment:
- Individual must be willing to work additional hours as required.
- Classroom ratios must be met at all times. When another classroom is in need of assistance, then one of the two teachers will be asked to support the program needs.
- Position has both internal contacts within the organization and external contacts within the community, which require considerable tact, courtesy, and diplomacy.
- The utmost of integrity is required to safeguard confidential proprietary information.
- Weather permitting daily walks and outdoor activities with the children.
