General Job Function & Goal:
The Intervention Support Teacher will serve as an immediate support teacher to provide Reading and or Math support to Elementary School Students in need of intensive reading and math support. The intervention teacher will work closely with the school classroom teacher counselors to support student's needs.
Education/Training/Experience:
- NMPED Teacher License
- Demonstrate cooperativeness and a willingness to carry out assigned tasks and performance responsibilities.
- Knowledge and experience in working with at-risk students.
- Knowledge and experience in implementing and managing iStation and Savas interventions.
Performance Responsibilities:
- Teach skills and knowledge to elementary students utilizing the intervention strategies
- Monitor, report, and communicate student progress and performance, and collaborate with the student's classroom teacher.
- Teach skills and knowledge to Elementary students utilizing the Istation and Savvas intervention pieces.
- Instruct students in the basic subject matter they are behind in according to procedures of the school district.
- Provide learning experiences that develop basic subject matter skills.
- Provide individualized and small-group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student.
- Instruct students in the safe operation of electronic equipment used in iStation computer instruction. Make minor adjustments and request computer repairs as required.
- Develop student understanding of the material and help them to complete tasks in a timely manner.
- Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive classroom environment.
- Evaluate each student’s progress in the subject matter being taught.
- Select books, instructional aids, and supplies that can help students succeed.
- Communicate with parents bi-weekly, monthly, or sooner as the need arises, on student’s progress and behavior.
- Identify student needs and cooperate with other professional staff members in helping students solve health, attitude, and learning problems.
- Supervise students in out-of-classroom activities as assigned.
- Attend and participate in faculty meetings and in-service days.
- Gather data to develop strategies for student improvement.
- Maintain professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district and in self-selected professional growth activities.
- Participate cooperatively with the appropriate administrator to develop the method by which the teacher will be evaluated in conformance with district guidelines.
- Administer the interventions and progress monitoring for steady progress.
- Attend board meetings at the request of the Superintendent or his/her authorized designee.
- Perform all other assigned tasks required of the supervisor(s).

Physical/Cognitive Requirements:
Regularly required to walk, talk, and listen. Frequently is required to stand and sit. Required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and depth perception. Light lifting at times.
Environmental Conditions:
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Essential Job Functions:
- Coordinate the distribution of student computers in the class.
- Create lesson plans to teach students subjects, such as reading, science, and math
- Teach students how to interact with others
- Observe students to evaluate their abilities, strengths, and weaknesses
- Instruct an entire class or smaller groups of students
- Communicate with parents or guardians about their child’s progress
- Work with students individually to help them overcome specific learning challenges
- Prepare students for standardized tests required by the state
- Develop and enforce classroom rules to teach children proper behavior
- Supervise children outside of the classroom—for example, during lunchtime or recess
- Teach students how to enter their usernames and passwords for iStaion progress monitoring.
- Gather data to develop strategies for student improvement.

- Demonstrates reliability as evidenced by attendance records and punctuality.
- Properly notifies supervisor or designee of absences or tardiness.
- Begins and completes work within the allotted time.
- Consistently appears in attire appropriate to the work environment.
- Demonstrates skill in the use of equipment including its capabilities, limitations, and
appropriate/special application,
- Protects the District’s resources through appropriate and careful use of supplies and
equipment.
- Utilizes appropriate body mechanics to aid the prevention of muscle strain/injury.
