GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide instruction for a three year industry based NATEF (National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation) course designed to provide students with the training, knowledge, and comprehensive understanding of (but not limited to) diagnosing and repairing automotive components and systems to include: fuel, suspension, brakes, lubrication, cooling, electrical, drivability, and general vehicle operation. Successful course completion will lead to the knowledge and skill necessary for students to achieve four ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) Certifications. This program will also provide AYES (Automotive Youth Excellence Service) experiences to students. Components of the Virginia DMV state inspection program will be emphasized.

- Demonstrates mastery of content area;
- Prepares daily instruction and activities using the division’s curriculum to assigned classes and shows evidence of preparation upon request of the supervisors;
- Assesses students' learning on an ongoing basis and altars instruction to meet group/individual needs;
- Develops summative tests of students' learning and uses results for further student instruction, grading, and placement;
- Develops and maintains a favorable psychological and physical environment that is conducive to effective learning;
- Maintains order and encourages students to set and maintain high standards of classroom behavior within the classroom setting in accordance with division guidelines regarding pupil behavior management.
- Selects and utilizes materials appropriate to the students' instructional levels;
- Organizes learning activities to achieve specific concepts;
- Attends and participates in district level in-service training programs, faculty and department meetings;
- Establishes friendly and cooperative relationships between the home and the school;
- Establishes and maintains cooperative professional relations with others;
- Demonstrates commitment to improving professional competence;
- Respects the home responsibility of parents for their children;
- Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities;
- Maintains accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulations;
- Performs other duties as assigned by the administration in accordance with the school division’s policies and practices.
