Pay:
- Base pay now starting at $18.28 / hr for candidates with a Bachelor degree and $17.78 / hr for candidates without a Bachelor degree
- Experience credit applied in addition to base pay
- $1,560 annual increase for Master degree
- Overtime payment at 1.5x your hourly rate

For over 50 years -- The Glenholme School, part of Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health, has provided a comprehensive residential program and services for children with learning differences and special needs. Located in picturesque Washington, CT the Teacher Assistant position will be part of a cohesive, passionate and dynamic team. The selected candidate will foster Devereux’s mission and values of quality care as well as providing top-notch and individualized therapeutic care for our students.
Position:
We are seeking a Teacher Assistant who has experience with the student population and is passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with learning differences and mental health/behavioral challenges. If this describes you, then look no further!
Schedule:
8am-4pm Monday through Friday
Primary Responsibilities Include:
- Ability to set and maintain clear expectations aligned with PBIS Standards and academic ability
- Collaborate with classroom teachers regarding academic goals and expectations
- Responsive and supportive to student academic, social and behavioral needs
- Provide feedback to students across all expectation areas to supports their growth
- Collect data on student academic and behavioral performance
- Provide 1:1 and small group instruction under the direction of teachers
- Provide supervision to students at all times with a focus on safety, accountability and support
- Collaborate with and support teachers in the preparation and delivery of classroom lessons
- Support transition from the cottage environment to school environment by supporting students regarding preparation for the school day and daily living goals
- Develop a working knowledge of student needs, levels of functioning and interventions to support students toward individual and programmatic goals
- Maintain high standards of personal, professional and ethical behavior
- The ability to identify student needs within the classroom environment and provide the appropriate support needed to increase positive behaviors and engagement
- Associate’s degree in education or related field.
- 2 years’ experience working with youth with learning differences and special needs.
