The Opportunity:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Tax Supervisor with a specialized focus on trusts and estates. This hands-on role requires a CPA designation and a strong foundation in trust and estate taxation, compliance, and planning. The ideal candidate will bring both technical expertise and leadership skills to support our high-net-worth clients and mentor junior staff.
Key Responsibilities:
Tax Compliance: Prepare and review trust, estate, and gift tax returns (Forms 1041, 706, and 709), ensuring accuracy and compliance with federal and state tax laws.
Tax Planning: Assist in developing and implementing strategic tax planning opportunities for trusts, estates, and high-net-worth individuals.
Research and Analysis: Conduct in-depth research on complex trust and estate tax issues, providing clear and actionable recommendations to clients.
Client Interaction: Serve as a key contact for clients, trustees, and beneficiaries, delivering exceptional service and proactive communication.
Collaboration: Work closely with attorneys, wealth advisors, and other professionals to address clients' trust and estate needs comprehensively.
Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor junior staff, providing guidance and training to enhance their technical and professional development.
Quality Assurance: Ensure all deliverables meet high standards of accuracy, professionalism, and timeliness.
Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline workflows and improve efficiency in the tax preparation and review processes.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Masters in Taxation preferred).
Certification: CPA license is required.
- Experience:
3+ years of experience in tax, with a focus on trust and estate taxation.
Experience in public accounting or a specialized tax advisory firm is highly desirable.
- Technical Expertise:
Proficiency in tax software (e.g., ProSystem fx, UltraTax) and accounting tools.
Strong understanding of federal and state trust and estate tax laws and regulations.
- Soft Skills:
Excellent organizational and analytical skills with a strong attention to detail.
Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities, with a client-first approach.
Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
