Key Responsibilities:
- Tax Compliance: Ensure accurate and timely preparation, review, and filing of all tax returns, including federal, state, local, and international taxes. Stay up-to-date with tax laws and regulations, ensuring full compliance and minimizing potential risks.
- Tax Planning and Strategy: Collaborate with senior management and financial teams to develop effective tax planning strategies that optimize the company's tax position while aligning with overall business goals. Identify opportunities for tax savings and implement appropriate initiatives.
- Tax Research and Analysis: Conduct comprehensive tax research to interpret complex tax laws and rulings, providing insights and recommendations to address specific tax issues or opportunities.
- Financial Reporting: Work closely with the finance team to ensure accurate and proper tax accounting, provisions, and reporting for financial statements, adhering to the relevant accounting standards.
- Risk Management: Assess potential tax risks and exposures, developing and implementing strategies to mitigate risks and maintain compliance with applicable tax regulations.
- Audits and Inquiries: Represent the company during tax audits and inquiries, collaborating with external auditors, tax authorities, and legal advisors to provide required information and resolve any tax-related matters.
- Team Leadership: Manage and mentor a team of tax professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment. Provide guidance, training, and development opportunities to enhance their skills and knowledge.
- Internal Controls: Implement and maintain robust internal controls related to tax processes, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and safeguarding of financial information.
- Continuous Improvement: Continuously review and enhance tax-related processes, identifying opportunities to streamline operations and increase efficiency.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; a Master's degree in Taxation is preferred.
- CPA designation or relevant tax certifications.
- Proven experience (typically 5+ years) in tax compliance, planning, and strategy, preferably in a corporate setting or public accounting firm.
- In-depth knowledge of federal, state, local, and international tax laws and regulations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to interact effectively with stakeholders, clients, and team members.
- Proficiency in tax software and financial systems.
- Leadership experience and the ability to lead and develop a team.
