KBW has partnered with a leading hedge fund manager with over $10 Billion in AUM.
The Tax Specialist will report to Tax Manager. You will work closely with the tax team and external tax preparers to ensure the accuracy and timely delivery of tax filings for various funds, including onshore and offshore master-feeder structures.
Responsibilities:
- Preparation of partnership taxable income, book-to-tax allocations, tax estimates, Schedule K-1s, and tax returns.
- Prepare Forms 926, 8858, 8865, 8886, 5471, and W-8, along with other necessary tax filings.
- Conduct ASC 740 Uncertain Tax Position analyses.
- Manage monthly NRA withholding statements.
- Participate in month-end close processes, including balance sheet and income statement reconciliations.
- Analyze and identify book-to-tax differences, such as wash sales, PFICs, bond bifurcation, and discount/premium accretion/amortization.
- Document tax and accounting policies and procedures.
- Evaluate and improve reporting processes and systems, collaborating with internal technical teams to enhance efficiency.
- Handle operational improvements, ad hoc analyses, and special projects as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance; CPA or MST preferred, or actively pursuing.
- Minimum of 2+ years of financial services experience, ideally with exposure to taxation of financial products, hedge funds, or investment companies.
- Knowledge of fixed income securities, derivatives, and complex financial instruments.
- Proficiency in software tools, including advanced MS Excel.
- Experience with the Total Return accounting system (SS&C Globe-Op platform) is a plus.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
