The Role:
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Tax Senior to join our growing team. This is an exciting opportunity for professionals with a strong background in tax compliance, tax planning, and client service. As a Tax Senior at Haskell & White, you will play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality tax services while leading projects, mentoring junior staff, and strengthening client relationships.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform complex tax preparation, tax research, and tax planning under the guidance of managers and supervisors.
- Supervise and provide technical guidance to less experienced staff members.
- Manage multiple client projects and deadlines, ensuring high standards of accuracy and quality in all tax services provided.
- Prepare individual and entity income tax returns (C & S Corporations, Partnerships, LLCs, Non-Profits, Trusts, and Estates) with intermediate to advanced complexity.
- Prepare tax provision schedules, including review, preparation, and consolidation of provision schedules.
- Maintain client communications, gathering information and addressing tax matters at an appropriate level.
- Review and provide feedback on tax returns prepared by junior staff, ensuring compliance with tax laws and regulations.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients by understanding their business needs and providing tailored tax strategies.
- Stay updated on changes in tax laws, regulations, and industry trends, applying this knowledge to client work.
- Ensure proper and consistent application of accounting principles and tax laws in all work performed.
- Identify and document areas for improvement, including control deficiencies, and escalate matters to management when necessary.
- Participate in professional development through educational opportunities, networking, and involvement in professional organizations.
- Ensure timely and accurate time entry, billing, and collection efforts.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in public accounting, with a strong focus on tax compliance and consulting.
- Educational requirements to sit for the CPA exam, with the intent to obtain CPA certification within 18 months of employment.
- Strong understanding of tax laws, regulations, and compliance requirements.
- Proficiency in tax preparation software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Commitment to delivering exceptional client service and fostering long-term client relationships.
