Our firm is looking for an experienced accountant to join our team as a Senior Tax Associate/Senior Tax Return Preparer. Our Senior Tax Associates are responsible for preparing the more challenging corporate, partnership, individual, trust, and estate income tax returns, as well as tax returns for not-for-profit entities. You will be expected to identify and understand complex tax situations, and work with Tax Managers and Partners to resolve those tax issues by having a firm grasp of local, state, and federal tax laws.
You will be working closely with several tax managers and partners in collecting information from our clients to prepare all work papers and schedules needed to support the amounts reported on our clients’ income tax returns. You will be preparing Forms 1120, 1120S, 1065, 1040, 1041, and Forms 990 and 990-EZ, including all schedules and statements associated with each form, as well as all related state and local tax filings for each client.
Since this is often a client-facing position, you will be expected to be in the office regularly to collaborate with other members in the tax department, attend client and staff meetings, and be available for Tax Associates.
Our ideal candidate has a master’s degree in accounting or tax, an active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license, and at least five years of experience preparing tax returns in public accounting. Specific experience with preparing tax returns for not-for-profit entities is desirable.

- Collect and organize client tax documentation
- Prepare challenging individual, passthrough and non-profit income tax returns
- Maintain compliance with tax regulations
- Assist clients with tax notices and audits
- Work closely with tax and audit staff
Required qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
- CPA certification
- 5+ years of accounting experience in tax
- Familiarity with not-for-profit tax preparation
- Familiarity with IRS regulations
- Strong communication and people skills
- Analytical problem-solving abilities
- Proficient with Microsoft software including Word and Excel.
Preferred qualifications:
- Master’s degree in accounting or tax.
- Experience with CCH Axcess Tax software.
- Experience with CCH Engagement software.
- Experience with QuickBooks accounting software.
