Ready to dive into complex hedge fund tax strategies and make an impact? Cohen & Co is seeking a Tax Senior Accountant to make an impact in hedge fund tax compliance engagements and assist in providing strategic tax advice to asset management clients. In this role, you’ll handle diverse tax issues, from international tax concepts like PFICs and CFCs to partnership allocations, while mentoring junior staff and delivering exceptional client service. Tax Strategy & Compliance:
- Oversee hedge fund tax compliance engagements for clients with appropriate consideration of risk, operational, and tax technical issues
- Research of tax legislation and explaining the impact to asset management clients is required as part of your contribution to tax consulting projects
- Juggle multiple priorities while managing internal and external stakeholders
- Work with international tax concepts such as PFICs, CFCs, and other reporting information (Form 1065, Form 1042, Form 1120F, Form 5471, etc.)
- Work with partnership allocations and an understanding of private equity carry waterfalls
Client Experience:
- Provide strategic tax advice to highnetworth clients on various issues such as estate planning, trust administration, and wealth transfer strategies
- Stay up to date on current tax laws, regulatory changes, and industry best practices to provide the most accurate strategic advice to clients
- Build and maintain strong relationships with highnetworth clients, ensuring ongoing satisfaction and confidence in your services
Team Leadership:
- Operate in a dynamic environment, coach junior staff members, and share your knowledge and experience with the entire team
- Coordinate multiple engagement teams’ schedules and deadlines
- Respect and celebrate the value of each of the stories, backgrounds, perspectives, and ideas of each of our team members, building meaningful relationships with all those you interact with
- Be growth oriented and work towards building a leveraged model, when appropriate
- Provide motivation to the team, including developing young leaders via active contribution to training and development

Required:
- Bachelor's Degree required
- CPA or qualifications completed to pursue CPA
- 2+ years of progressive experience at a public accounting firm
- Excellent leadership and organizational skills
- Strong external and internal communication required, due to client facing role and importance
- of strong partnership with internal engagement teams
- Understanding of Outlook, Excel, Word, Adobe, etc. required
- Initiative to learn, ask questions, operate in a fast-paced environment, challenge the status quo
- develop strong relationships internally, and flexibility are required and keys to success
- Some experience in preparing and reviewing partnership tax returns and Schedules K-1 and K-3
- Some experience with computing taxable income and partnership allocations for private funds
- Basic knowledge of wash sales, straddles, carried interest and incentive allocations
- Some knowledge of distribution waterfall

Estimated Salary Range: $70,000 - 125,000*
*Salaries offered to candidates are determined based on factors such as candidate's relevant skillset, experience, licensure, and certifications, as well as job responsibilities, geography, market considerations, and organizational needs.
