Job Description:
Our client is seeking a Tax Manager responsible for reviewing advanced tax returns, managing bookkeeping and accounting tasks, and refining firm processes and procedures. This role involves overseeing workflow distribution and scheduling, training and providing feedback to supervisors, seniors, staff, and interns. The Tax Manager will also participate in manager and committee meetings and lead firm initiatives to enhance the growth of the firm's people, clients, and safety.

– Flexible schedule required, including 55+ hours per week during tax season.
– Bachelor's degree in Accountancy and CPA or EA license required. Equivalent years of experience and continued education may be considered in some cases.
Key Competencies:
– Achieve monthly and annual charge hour goals and review/analyze staff hour reports.
– Review Form 1099s, Payroll Tax Returns, Sales Tax Returns, Business Property Statements, and Business Licenses.
– Review advanced C-Corporation, Partnership, S-Corporation, Personal, Non-Profit, and Trust tax returns.
– Oversee Corporate and Personal tax planning.
– Prepare Estate tax planning, specialized partnership allocations, stock sales, and ownership changes.
– Represent clients during tax audits.
– Conduct intermediate technical research to resolve issues with new and existing clients.
– Participate in manager meetings and committee work as assigned.
– Lead staff meetings, manage weekly scheduling, and participate in the mentoring program.
– Hold weekly check-in meetings with assigned staff.
– Manage workflow distribution and scheduling for supervisors, seniors, and staff to maximize efficiency.
– Develop firm processes and procedures and set an example of professional conduct and leadership.
– Facilitate in-house training, provide one-on-one feedback, and participate in recruiting and intern selection.
– Assist in the billing process by analyzing WIP and providing invoice totals.
– Lead client service meetings and develop new business through networking and marketing initiatives.
Knowledge and Skills Requirements:
– Understanding of tax forms, entity setup, formation and dissolution, retirement plans, foreign entity reporting, Section 1031 exchanges, basic foreign/multistate returns, and specialized tax credits.
– Specialized knowledge in specific industries.
– Participation in advanced continuing education, leadership, and management training.
– Familiarity with accounting software such as CFS, QuickBooks, T-value, Adobe Acrobat, Axcess Tax, Engagement, and CCH Workstream.
– Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
– Strong written and verbal communication skills.
– Ability to mentor, train, and collaborate with staff.
