Job Details
Responsibilities:
1. Tax Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local tax regulations
- Prepare and file tax returns accurately and timely
- Stay up-to-date with changes in tax laws and regulations
- Provide guidance and support to the organization on tax-related matters
2. Tax Planning:
- Develop and implement tax strategies to optimize the organization's tax position
- Identify opportunities for tax savings and efficiencies
- Collaborate with internal teams to align tax planning with business goals
- Conduct research and analysis to support tax planning initiatives
3. Flow Through Taxation:
- Expertise in flow through taxation for mortgage industry
- Advise on the tax implications of various business structures and transactions
- Ensure compliance with flow through taxation requirements
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements and reports related to flow through taxation
4. Audit Support:
- Assist in the coordination and management of tax audits
- Collaborate with external auditors and tax authorities during the audit process
- Prepare documentation and respond to inquiries related to tax audits
- Identify and implement improvements to internal controls to mitigate tax audit risks
5. Team Leadership:
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior tax professionals
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure tax compliance in all areas of the organization
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment
- Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in tax management
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- CPA certification preferred
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in tax management, preferably in the mortgage industry
- Strong knowledge of tax laws and regulations
- Experience with tax compliance and preparation of tax returns
- Expertise in flow through taxation
- Ability to analyze complex tax issues and provide strategic recommendations
- Proficient in using tax software and MS Office Suite
