Responsibilities:
1. Develop and implement strategic tax planning for all necessary federal and state taxes.
2. Manage and facilitate IRS income tax audits: preparing responses, creating schedules, etc.
3. Manage the preparation and review of tax returns and quarterly/yearly tax projections.
4. Manage and coordinate tax reporting and tax return preparation in compliance with local, state, and federal tax laws.
5. Oversee the preparation of 1065s, 1120s, 1120, and 1040s.
6. Provide innovative tax planning strategies and compliance expertise to clients; manage budget.
7. Maintain and update the company's tax database.
8. Ensure accurate, timely filing of consolidated federal, state, and local income tax returns and other business-related filings.
9. Find and implement opportunities for process improvement in company tax procedures.
10. Develop and implement strategic tax planning for all necessary federal and state taxes.
11. Manage members of the tax team as they prepare components of the company's US federal income tax return and state tax returns.
12. Supervise the tax department including mentoring staff and seniors, conducting performance reviews, and serving as a leader within the department.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. A Master’s degree in Taxation is highly desirable.
2. CPA certification is required.
3. Minimum 5+ years of progressive experience in public tax, private company tax, public company tax, s-corp, c-corp, HNW individual, and partnership tax.
4. Strong tax accounting skills with proficiency in US GAAP, tax compliance, corporate consolidated returns, consolidated federal tax returns, partnership returns, and combined state tax returns.
5. Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of staff and management.
6. Proficiency with tax return software.
7. Strong skills in project management and team leadership are desirable.
8. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
9. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
10. Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
11. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
