This role encompasses overseeing client assignments and projects, guiding and supporting team members to meet client expectations and deadlines, supervising staff, monitoring project progress in terms of quality, budget adherence, and timeliness, as well as foster and expand client relationships within their assigned portfolio. Our full-service CPA firm is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Tax professional to join our growing firm as a Tax Manager. This role encompasses overseeing client assignments and projects, guiding and supporting team members to meet client expectations and deadlines, supervising staff, monitoring project progress in terms of quality, budget adherence, and timeliness, as well as foster and expand client relationships within their assigned portfolio. Responsibilities:
- Supervise and review the preparation of a diverse array of tax returns (individual, corporate, trust, etc.).
- Develop and implement strategic tax planning for clients.
- Review quarterly/yearly tax projections and plans.
- Manage client relationships.
- Offer guidance to clients on both business and tax-related matters
- Research and consult on various tax matters; utilize tax-related software to prepare and process returns and research tax matters.
- Respond to inquiries from the IRS and other tax authorities on behalf of clients.
- Contribute to staff development initiatives and company-provided training
- Act as a mentor to associates navigating their career paths
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting. A Master's degree in Taxation is a plus.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification is required.
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience in public accounting with a concentration in tax.
- Proficient in tax accounting, tax compliance, and 1065, 1120, 1120S, 1041, and 1040 return.
- Knowledge of tax software (ideally Lacerte) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong background in tax research
- Excellent interpersonal skills and adept at managing client relationships
- Ability to work additional hours as needed and travel to various client sites.
