Responsibilities:
- Conduct technical tax review and approval of all tax returns and handle governmental tax examinations of varying complexity.
- Assume full responsibility for larger tax returns, delegating tasks to tax preparers as necessary.
- Demonstrate expert knowledge and proficiency in advanced technical skills to advise clients effectively.
- Manage client service tasks, ensuring assignments are completed within budgeted time.
- Actively participate in client meetings and tax planning efforts to support the Auditing and Accounting Department with major clients.
- Serve as a resource for tax preparers/specialists and A&A staff on specific tax matters.
- Undertake tax preparation for complex business returns and manage client service for assigned clients.
- Communicate important tax developments affecting clients to relevant firm personnel.
- Oversee and manage governmental tax examinations; may represent clients before taxing authorities.
- Ensure smooth flow of tax returns through the preparation system to guarantee accurate, complete, and timely delivery.
- Adhere to accurate and timely billing and collection processes.
- Research and assess tax preparation and research software for recommendation to partners.
- Contribute to firm practice development efforts through engagement with referral sources, community, and industry activities.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Develop, coach, and train Supervising Seniors, Seniors, Semi-seniors, and Staff accountants.
- Understand the qualifications of all Tax staff members for effective training and development.
- Participate in reviews and evaluations of the Tax Department.
Qualifications:
- Five to seven years' experience in public accounting, demonstrating progression in tax complexity, scope, and research.
- Minimum one year of supervisory experience directing tax preparers' work.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting required; master’s degree in taxation preferred.
- Current and valid CPA license is mandatory.
