About the Role
The Tax Manager will play a critical role in overseeing the company's tax function. This position offers a high degree of autonomy and the chance to collaborate directly with the company's leadership, including the VP of Accounting, VP of operations and CEO.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with a leading external accounting firm to ensure accurate and timely filing of all federal, state, and local tax returns for various entities, including individuals, trusts, and limited partnerships.
- Develop and implement tax strategies that optimize the company's tax position while maintaining strict compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
- Provide expert guidance to the owner on complex tax matters, conducting thorough research and analysis to support recommendations.
- Oversee all aspects of the company's tax compliance, including business and property tax returns.
- Maintain meticulous tax records and stay current on evolving tax laws and regulations.
- Represent the company in any interactions with tax authorities, including audits.
- Ensure adherence to corporate governance best practices, maintaining a clear separation between personal and business finances.
- Provide valuable insights to support treasury and cash flow planning.
- Collaborate with external advisors, including legal counsel and valuation experts.
- Oversee property, business and sales taxes.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
- CPA certification is required.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in tax accounting, with experience in real estate taxation highly desired.
- In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
