Job Details
Essential Functions
- Demonstrates a thorough understanding of tax issues. Considered to be a source of technical information for tax department members and clients.
- Researches complex tax issues for presentation to engagement team members, partner, clients and others
- Monitors emerging tax law changes and proactively develop policies, procedures and training as needed
- Prepares most complex returns
- Prepares tax projections and is involved in planning for complex clients.
- Reviews tax accrual and associated working papers.
- Analyzes IRS notices and drafts responses.
- Reviews IRS notice responses prepared by other tax personnel.
- Performs client consulting engagements
- Reviews & approves tax returns as assigned, coordinate & review tax shelf returns
- Acts as a resource to prepare complex transactional analysis or complex tax research
- Is a referral source for A&A client tax issues
- Backs-up partners for client calls in their absence
- Encompass the firm’s mission, vision and values in representing the firm to other employees and the community
- Provides management over a portfolio of clients and delivers high quality tax and consulting services
- Assists in identify staff resource needs, including participating in the hiring, recruitment and termination of department staff
- Coordinates with partners and managers related to staff training and staff continuing education plans. Coordinates internal CPE presentations and training.
- Coordinates with other managers and partners to identify and implement department goals
- Coordinates with other managers and partners regarding staff scheduling and project assignments
- Monitors and follows up on staff utilization and productivity. Implements ideas and strategies for ensuring staff and department productivity.
- Participates in analysis of profitability/efficiency within department. Assists in identifying growth opportunities.
- Participates and conducts employee evaluations and employee mentorship. This may include the recommendation to promote or coach staff as deemed necessary.
- Possesses strong communication skills. Understands the need to be diplomatic when required in delivering unpleasant information
- Assists in the design and implementation of department policy and procedures (bonus structure, work flow policies, etc.)
- Coordinates with admin staff on policies & procedures
- Responsible for tax personnel onboarding procedures/training
- Performs monthly billing and collection follow-up with clients.
- Communicates with client regarding additional billing and other billing adjustments
- Maintains contacts with peers, develops network of business contacts, meets with prospective clients and cultivates referrals.
- Takes a leadership role in professional, business or community organizations.
- Is seen as a role model for tax professionals.
- Have a valid driver’s license
- Have personal vehicle for client commute. The job requires in/out of town client commutes where a reliable vehicle is needed.
- Have current auto insurance policy with at least minimum requirements for California
