My client is a well-established public accountancy firm specializing in Homeowners' Associations (HOA), construction, and restaurant bookkeeping, along with comprehensive individual and business tax returns. They are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Tax Manager to lead their tax team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the firm’s tax services, delivering exceptional client service, and ensuring compliance with tax laws and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Tax Compliance and Planning:
- Manage the preparation and review of individual and business tax returns (S-corporations, C-corporations, partnerships, and sole proprietors).
- Provide tax planning strategies for businesses and individuals, ensuring tax efficiency and compliance.
- Stay updated on federal, state, and local tax regulations and guide the team on their implications.
- Client Management:
- Serve as a key point of contact for clients in the HOA, construction, and restaurant industries, offering tailored tax solutions.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships, providing proactive and consultative tax advice.
- Coordinate with bookkeeping teams to ensure seamless integration of financial data for accurate tax reporting.
- Team Leadership:
- Supervise and mentor junior tax staff, providing technical guidance and fostering a collaborative work environment.
- Review work completed by the tax team to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with tax laws.
- Conduct regular training to keep the team current on new tax laws and best practices.
- Tax Audit and Review:
- Represent clients in tax audits and resolve any disputes with tax authorities.
- Review tax strategies to minimize risk and ensure proper compliance for business and individual clients.
- Business Development:
- Identify opportunities to expand tax services, including cross-selling other accounting and financial services.
- Work with partners and senior management to develop and implement growth strategies for the tax department.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master’s degree or CPA license preferred).
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in tax preparation and planning, preferably in a public accounting firm.
- In-depth knowledge of tax regulations for HOA, construction, and restaurant industries.
- Experience with both individual and business tax returns.
- Proven leadership and team management skills.
- Strong client service orientation with the ability to manage multiple client relationships.
- Proficient in tax preparation software and accounting systems (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, or equivalent).
