A well-established, highly profitable regional CPA firm is seeking a Tax Director to add to their growing staff. They offer a choice of SEC and closely held clients across diverse industry groups, and fast track career progression. They prefer a generalist with experience with C and S corps, complex tax provisions, partnerships, and high net worth individuals out of a Big-4, national, or large local CPA firm.
Responsibilities:
- Assume full responsibility for larger tax returns and delegate to tax preparers as needed.
- Participate actively in client meetings and tax planning efforts.
- Assume client service responsibility for designated clients.
- Communicate important tax and tax developments affecting the firms’ clients appropriately.
- Delegate and manage governmental tax examinations.
- Develop, coach and train senior, semi-seniors and staff accountants.
- Ensure accurate and timely billing and collection processes are followed.
- Participate in firm practice development efforts.
- Occasional travel for work at clients’ offices, meetings, and seminars.
- Occasional overtime required throughout the year; heavy overtime required from January 1 to April 15, may be in excess of 55 hours per week.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years in public accounting, with proven progression in tax complexity, scope, and research.
- 2+ years representing clients before taxing authorities.
- 1+ year supervising and directing work of tax preparers.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting required, master’s degree in taxation preferred.
- Current valid CPA license.
Compensation commensurate with experience, base salary range up to $230K, very reasonable work life balance, excellent benefits including large potential bonuses and a 5% employer contribution to your 401K program. Prefer candidates in PST time zone.
