About the Job
The Tax Compliance Manager will oversee the organization's tax records, ensuring their accuracy and managing the flow of information necessary for producing tax returns, K-1s, and other tax-related reports. This role involves coordinating with external accounting firms for the preparation, reconciliation, and review of tax reports. The individual will also serve as the primary resource for addressing tax-related queries and managing records related to 1031 investor transactions and investments.

Responsibilities:
- Streamline processes to improve the accuracy of tax data collection.
- Ensure financial information is recorded correctly and provide training to relevant staff.
- Support the recruitment and development of the accounting team.
- Develop and maintain documentation of tax accounting procedures.
- Respond to tax-related questions from investors and internal teams.
- Collaborate with external accountants to ensure timely and accurate tax reporting.
- Communicate with fund administrators as needed.
- Assist with tax planning and compliance for property acquisitions and sales.
- Conduct tax research and provide insights on various matters.
- Calculate debt covenants and integrate them into the debt management system.
- Contribute to system implementations and recommend technological improvements.
- Maintain effective internal controls to safeguard the company's interests and ensure compliance with policies.
- Work closely with property accounting and financial reporting teams.
- Report directly to the Head of Accounting and Finance.
- Possess a strong understanding of consolidated accounting processes.
- Perform GAAP-to-tax accounting reconciliations and analyze differences.
- Calculate capital gains and ensure compliance with state-specific withholding tax requirements.
