About the Job
- Assist in the preparation of audit files and schedules for the year-end US GAAP audits, FAR audits and other audits that may arise from time-to-time.
- Collaborate with external auditors to manage audit timelines and resolve audit issues.
- Collaborate with the Assistant Controller to develop and implement financial policies and procedures.
- Coordinate with the Assistant Controller to conduct internal control testing procedures ensuring compliance with approved processes and procedures.
- Provide guidance and training to internal teams on GAAP and FAR compliance.
- Assist in the preparation of state and local taxes (gross receipts, personal property taxes, sales and use tax) files and schedules.
- Collaborate with external tax accountants to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
- Collaborate with external tax accountants to manage timely tax filings, resolve tax issues, and identify possible tax incentives and/or strategies to reduce overall tax exposure and enhance overall financial performance.
- Ensure the accuracy and completeness of tax filings.
- Maintain understanding of current and projected changes in tax laws and regulations that impact the AEC industry and government contracting.
- Manage and perform other duties and tasks as deemed appropriate by your manager.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field (master’s degree preferred).
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in audit and tax management, preferably in the AEC industry or with government contractors.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and FAR regulations and experience managing audits in these areas.
- Excellent analytical skills with a strong attention to detail.
- Proficiency in accounting software.
- Experience with tax compliance and audit processes.
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability and experience working as a member of a team
- Must possess excellent organizational skills in addition to being able to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks in a changing environment with a high degree of accuracy
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio (nice to have)).
- Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally.
