Job Details
We are seeking a sharp Tax Attorney for our NJ office. In this role, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive tax advice to our clients and represent clients in tax-related disputes and litigation. This role demands a deep understanding of tax law and the ability to translate complex legal jargon into easily understandable terms for our clients. We are looking for a candidate who is not only knowledgeable and experienced but also has a strong commitment to ethical legal practice.
Is your background a fit?
* JD degree from an accredited law school
* Admitted to the New Jersey State Bar (required); NY bar admission is a plus
* 3+ years practicing in tax law
* LL.M in Taxation is preferred
* Proficiency in tax planning and strategy, tax compliance, and tax dispute resolution
* Excellent research and analytical skills
* Strong negotiation and advocacy skills
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate complex legal jargon into easily understandable terms
* High ethical standards and professional integrity
* Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop strong client relationships
What will you be doing?
* Work alongside our corporate attorneys to advise business entities on a variety of corporate transactions, including: mergers, sales, and acquisitions; and design and implement tax-efficient structures
* Support senior attorneys with the tax aspects of corporate transactions
* Draft tax memoranda and opinions
* Assist clients with IRS and various state agency audits
* Appeal audit determinations; and draft tax portions of Operating and Shareholder Agreements for business entities
* Develop and implement effective tax strategies to minimize tax liabilities and risks for clients
* Conduct thorough research to stay abreast of changes in tax laws and regulations
* Prepare and review tax returns and other legal documents related to tax matters
