As a Tax Associate, you will be an integral part of our dynamic CPA firm. This is not your ordinary tax role; you will be challenged to think creatively and find innovative solutions to complex tax issues. You will be responsible for preparing and reviewing multi-state tax returns, conducting tax research, and providing tax planning and consulting services to our diverse client base. This role offers a unique opportunity to develop your technical skills while also building meaningful relationships with clients and colleagues.
Responsibilities:
1. Prepare and review complex multi-state tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, trusts, and non-profit organizations.
2. Conduct thorough tax research and analysis to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws.
3. Develop and implement tax planning strategies to minimize tax liabilities and maximize client savings.
4. Assist with IRS and state tax audits, including responding to notices and preparing audit responses.
5. Provide tax consultation services to clients, including advising on tax implications of business decisions and transactions.
6. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current tax laws and regulations and communicate relevant updates to clients and team members.
7. Participate in the training and development of junior staff, including reviewing their work and providing constructive feedback.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A Master's degree in Taxation or a CPA certification is preferred and a big plus.
2. A minimum of two years of experience in tax preparation and consulting, with a strong focus on multi-state tax returns.
3. Thorough knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.
4. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex tax information and provide clear, concise explanations to clients.
5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with clients and team members.
6. Proficiency in tax preparation software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
7. Strong attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
8. A commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
