We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Permanent Tax Accountant to join our team in the finance industry. This role is crucial to our organization, as you will be responsible for preparing and filing multi-state income tax returns and federal tax returns, ensuring compliance with tax laws and regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of tax accounting, IRS requirements, and the ability to prepare accurate journal entries. This is a unique opportunity to utilize your skills and experience in a challenging and rewarding environment.
Responsibilities:
1. Prepare and file multi-state income tax returns and federal tax returns in accordance with IRS guidelines.
2. Ensure all tax accounting practices are in compliance with state and federal tax laws.
3. Prepare accurate journal entries related to income tax provisions and tax-related expenses.
4. Conduct research on complex tax issues to ensure the company is in compliance with all tax laws and regulations.
5. Assist in tax planning and strategy to minimize tax liability while ensuring compliance with tax laws.
6. Work closely with internal and external auditors during financial and tax audits.
7. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current tax laws and regulations.
8. Provide tax advice and guidance to management and other departments within the organization.
9. Assist in the development and implementation of tax accounting policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
2. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Enrolled Agent (EA) certification is preferred.
3. Minimum of 2 years of experience in tax accounting, with a focus on multi-state income tax returns and federal tax returns.
4. In-depth knowledge of tax laws, IRS requirements, and tax accounting.
5. Proficiency in preparing journal entries.
6. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
7. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
8. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
9. Proficient in using tax software and Microsoft Office Suite.
10. Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
11. High level of integrity and professionalism.
