The Role
The Tax Manager will oversee and manage the company’s tax compliance and reporting for both the United States and Canada. This role requires expertise in preparing and filing tax returns, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, and providing strategic tax planning. The Tax Manager will also be responsible for tax-effect accounting for the North American region and collaborating with external tax advisors. A deep understanding of tax laws, strong analytical skills, excellent communication, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment are key to success in this position.
You Will
Tax Compliance & Reporting: Prepare and file federal, state, and local tax returns for both the United States and Canada, ensuring accuracy and timely submissions.
- Regulatory Compliance: Stay up to date with federal, state, and local tax regulations, ensuring the company’s adherence to all tax laws.
- Tax Research & Planning: Conduct in-depth tax research and provide strategic tax planning advice to optimize the company's tax position.
- Tax Audits & Inquiries: Assist with tax audits and manage inquiries from tax authorities in a professional and timely manner.
- Tax Records & Documentation: Maintain and organize comprehensive tax records, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Collaboration Across Teams: Work closely with cross-functional teams and global regions (Europe and Australia) to gather information necessary for accurate tax filings.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements in tax reporting and compliance, driving efficiency.
- Tax Effect Accounting: Manage tax-effect accounting for the North American region, ensuring compliance with all accounting standards.
- External Relations: Manage relationships with external tax advisers and ensure effective collaboration for tax matters.
What you’ll bring
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Certifications: CPA certification is preferred
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years in tax accounting, with a preference for experience in the payments or financial services industries. Exposure to international tax issues is highly desirable.
- Technical Skills: Strong understanding of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations. Proficiency in tax preparation software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Collaboration: Ability to work independently while fostering strong teamwork across various global teams.
